R.R. 493a (50m) (D.B. 175 25-9-24) J.H.D. EXPERIMENTAL REPORT. Expl. No. X766 REF Hsl/LG14.5.25. To CH: from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} OVERHEATING. X488 V4214 With reference to CJ2/E12.5.25. We attach herewith a reply in detail to H's complaint of overheating on La{L. A. Archer} Turbie. We recommend we do not take the car from Chateauroux until we have completed successfully the 10,000 miles test. It would be better to send another car to the south of France. As regards comparative tests with the louvred bonnets and the shuttered bonnets. We have complete information and can give definite value for these devices. We attach a chart in connection with this. We are doubtful whether we should obtain any reliable information by sending the car to the south of France. We have in our files records of temperature tests and hill climbs taken in 1912 in Austria by yourself - bonnet with louvres was tested then. In 1914 Mr. Barrington took a car to the south of France, tested it on La{L. A. Archer} Turbie and the other hills there for overheating. Last summer we sent one of our men to Switzerland and to the south of France, and Grasse. Then we have Dalgety's report from Australia. All these records are practically valueless because there is no standard basis for comparison. contd :- | ||
