Re weak design of front axle pivots.

The actual broken pivots were not to the size of the drawing but were considerably thinner.

I am sorry that I did not realise any tendency of these to break in the way that they have done.

The complete axle was originally designed at Quarndon but the dimensions of the parts which broke were not intentionally altered from the original 40/50 type and I do not think that they have varied on the drawings. Since 1908.

I never blame draughtsmen for errors of judgement for which I am responsible, but sometimes they make clerical errors for which they must be responsible.
