TO B.I. FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} Copy to - OJ. " HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} " HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} ORIGINAL R1/M29.5.25. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. Vll. X8770 ground clearance? With reference to EAC. 7. this chassis will have the same clearance as the present EAC. and the standard Silver Ghost type. There will be no reduction below our standard practice. We do not think it would be wise to rob this dimension for the sake of increased cooling. We are making slight economies to permit the transmission being lowered, and therefore to permit a slightly deeper radiator, and also allow the floor and frame to be nearer the ground. The general designs for this chassis are near-ly completed and we have requisitioned the frame, which is the longest special piece. We are sure that the coachbuilders will like this chassis. It avoids some of the present troubles, both of the coachbuilders and the engineers. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
