(b). If you will, therefore kindly let us have some of
these parts as you suggest we will have them tested
and report.

One other point raised by our Mr. Hardy, to
carburise at 875 instead of 880°C., we are quite satisfied
with. You will, of course, have to give the pieces a some-
what longer length of time in the muffle, but we appreciate
that the lower temperature gives you even a greater safeguard
against the formation of cementite on the surface than 880°C
which we suggested. In our experience, dealing in this case
with bearing surfaces as well as gear teeth, we have used 880°C
without the production of cementite, but we are quite prepared
to accept your figure of 875°C.
