Messrs Rolls Royce Ltd., Nightingale Road, Derby. Dear Sirs, We are in receipt of your letter of the 2nd inst, relative to an arrangement fitted to a Pullman Limousine body of our make exhibited on a 65 HP Napier chassis at Olympia. The arrangement you refer to of separating the enclosed dashboard from the dashboard proper was constructed by us not for the purpose of giving ventilation to them, although it performs this function admirably but for the reason which we have discovered that it is owing to the amount of movement taking place with the dashboard fixed to the chassis that trouble is often caused with the doors of carriages. The arrangement exhibited by us on this carriage however is the patent of Mr Arthur Macdonald of Messrs S. F.{Mr Friese} Edge Ltd, although we cannot tell you without making enquiries what is the patent number. We ourselves have also taken out a patent No 23739/11 which fulfil's the same function and which we have found to work admirably in practice. We enclose a brief specification of this arrangement as we note your interest in the matter. Yours faithfully, For MULLINER LONG ACRE LONDON & Northampton Ltd., A D Murrellwhite London Manager.
