X. 4430 - PAPER CONDENSER

We send you herewith portion of a Liberty condenser as referred to in our report EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 3/T29.10.23, this being one of two similar portions which go to make up a complete Liberty condenser. The interest in this particular condenser is the fact that it had a very small variation in capacity with temperature, though of a paper dielectric. After examining this will you kindly pass it on to Mr. Brock for his examination.
In the meanwhile we should be glad if Mr. Brock would let us have some portions of the winding of a standard R.R. paper condenser, e.g. some portion of one recently broken down. We have kept the other portion of the Liberty condenser and we are anxious to submit this and the corresponding thing of our own manufacture to Mr. Hall, as we think he may be able to tell us something of the difference in the two paper dielectrics.
I should be glad if Mr. Brock would let me have this condenser winding at his earliest convenience.
It will be noted that the ends of the condenser are sealed in with a brown wax. The two portions of the condenser are also sealed into the metal case with this wax and the case soldered up allround, so that there is no possibility of moisture gaining access.
