VISIT TO "NICHROMIC" WORKS.

I visited the works of "Nichromic" at Asnieres where they manufacture an alloy of that name used extensively in France for making boxes for cementation and carburising purposes. Crucibles and ladles are also constructed of this and due to its high tensile-strength when hot and resistance to oxidation gives it about thirty times the life of the ordinary cast iron and steel boxes used for these purposes.

Hispanos, Renaults, and several of the other leading firms use their product.

The addition of Nichromic to cast iron is claimed to greatly increase the strength and I have brought back with me some samples of this in 'shot' form which can be added to castings.

It is suggested that we may gain an advantage by the use of this in our car exhaust manifolds.

We will send the sample 'shot' to HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} who may like to test it.

Appended is some literature regarding this alloy.
