X7770 To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from BJ. 14-EX Car. BJ2/E22.5.28 The above car arrived at Gerrards Cross last night with your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/LG21.5.28. (1). Steering. I am not quite clear as to the object of judging the steering and not including travelling at high speeds over bad roads. Steering on a RR Car must be suitable for all purposes as we do not know which of our customers will use their cars to visit the South of France, nor whether they will sell them to other customers who may visit the South of France and wish to drive at high speeds over bad roads. (2). Springing. We will arrange for this car to be weighted at the back to represent the average number of passengers if at any time it is not carrying its complement. (3). Engine. I presume it is intended that we shall adopt 4 3/4 compression ratio if we find it generally satisfactory, and it will be tested with this in view. If there are any other differences or alterations on the car as compared with our present standard, you will no doubt let me know as we should like to know exactly what we are trying. BJ.
