B.50 GEAR BOX.

In deciding the specification for further boxes to be built, we have taken into account that there will not be time to make a new casting before 8.B.V. goes to France.

The box for 8.B.V. should be to the original P.D.'s except for:

A.{Mr Adams}
(1) Larger 1st. motion shaft bearing. PD.227.

(2) The sliding pieces for top overdrive and 2nd. modified by removing .020 diametrically from the addendum of both male and female engaging teeth, and a further .025 off the relieved teeth.

(3) Reverse gear whitemetalled and running on a slanting shaft. PD.232.

(4) Thicker locating and synchromesh washers. PD.237.

(5) Aluminium bronze reverse fork.

(6) Gaco oil seal for servo.

(7) Selector springs giving 9 lbs. at the gear lever.

(8) Worm wheel of servo to be half wheel as shown on PD.222.

A further 4 boxes for new cars will be required incorporating the following features, necessitating a new casting:

(3) Servo drive and assembly on 3rd. speed wheel. PD.222.
