Re Mr. Poberejsky - GAE-2.

I went to Paris to try the above car after the high compression head had been fitted. We tried it against 21-G-IV for the acceleration up to 40 m.p.h. in top gear. The result was very disappointing, accelerating from 10 m.p.h; 21-G-IV drew a length and a half in front by the time 25 m.p.h. was reached.

It continued to increase the distance up to 40 m.p.h. At 60 m.p.h. it was two car lengths in front and maintained this lead up to maximum speed.

We changed the carburetters but got no appreciable result. We altered the ignition timing, advancing it 8o. This improved the acceleration but brought up bad detonation. The best results we could obtain were with the ignition advanced 2o. The car was still slower than 21-G-IV on its acceleration and in our opinion requires a thoroughly good running in.
