Dear "Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}",

Would you mind investigating the following, and if possible let me have an early reply.

A very excellent friend of mine in France has been in possession for over a year of the exclusive French rights to manufacture a petrol pump of American manufacture called the "Romeo", and is used extensively on engines for airplanes.

He gives me to understand that we have acquired under license, the manufacturing rights for Great Britain.

Having heard of this, Messrs Hispano-Suiza, after refusing to see my friend on several occasions, have now suddenly become very interested!

The point in question is that he would like me if possible to give him an idea what R.R., paid, or what they pay for the manufacturing rights to the Romec people, as my friend considers that in dealing with Messrs Hispano-Suiza, he should obtain from them every bit as much as we have had to pay.

A word from you on this subject would be much appreciated.

Re the Le Mans race, I have just heard that owing to "sanctions", no Alfa-Romeo cars fitted with the Grand Prix engine will be running at Le Mans this year.

I am enclosing a separate memo with this also re Le Mans.

This afternoon I had the visit of one of our good customers who still owns a Continental R.R., and he asks me whether he could have, without any guarantee, an air silencer fitted to his chassis. Would you kindly let me have your views on this subject.

Yours sincerely,

hr.
SS{S. Smith}

PS.
Your remarks re the Bean seeds amused me immensely!

Love to Beryl.
