Secret Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}9/T25.4.34. ------------ Re GUB-5 and Essex Terraplane. Thank you for your two memos Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}4/E23.4.34 and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}3/E24.4.34. GUB-5 is now a totally different car. Mr. Ward, of Park Wards and EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} brought it down yesterday and for a standard 20/25 we are thoroughly pleased with it, and we told Mr. Ward and EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}that we are now very happy. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}, EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}, Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} and myself have tried it. Mr. Ward personally thanked us and said they had definitely improved the breed with our suggestions, and that 3/4 important points have now been standardised for future bodies by Park Wards, so it all seems to have been worth while, and we are getting satisfaction out of it. We have also compared GUB-5 with the Terraplane, and we are of the opinion that if we improve it with the engine mounting, the 20/25 will be a wonderful car. We have tested C's 20/25 car with the rubber engine mounting this morning and it is a big improvement, and there is no doubt about it, and the one thing of importance is, to get this mounting fitted on our cars. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} is taking GUB-5 on Monday next to fit up a scheme which is being designed by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} with rubber engine mounting. Also, as soon as Hancock brings 28-EX back from France we are going to fit rubber mounting on this car. It will be easier to fit on the Phantom than on the 20/25, because there is little or no design work to do, the pedals being supported from the frame. I mention all this to show that everybody is 'red hot' in getting this new rubber mounting job through in the quickest possible time. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} | ||
