Senior Range Gearbox. Sec.6030 - Gearbox & Actuation. PL.952 - Scheme showing method of Interlocking. We send you herewith one blue-print of the following :- PL.952 Scheme showing method of Interlocking. The details have been modified under cover of Alteration 387/RG.{Mr Rowledge} and the additions have been made to LOP's RG.{Mr Rowledge}498 and RG.{Mr Rowledge}2329 under Alteration No. 388/RG.{Mr Rowledge} These alterations are issued with this memo. The necessity of interlocking the Selector Shafts, arises out of the fact that when the Reverse Gear slides into mesh, it is possible for it to meet the 1st speed gear teeth end on, and so engage 1st speed, over-coming the spring loaded ball in the Selector Mechanism. It is not convenient with this universal Gearbox, to have an interlocking device which locks all gear positions, but we have been able to lock 3rd and 4th against 1st and 2nd and 1st and 2nd against Reverse. It would still be possible to engage 3rd or 4th and Reverse, were it not for the fact that the selector lever is far too narrow ever to do this. The detail modifications call for no alterations to the pattern at this stage, but it would be advisable at a future date to raise a small boss on the side of the gearbox to facilitate drilling the hole for the interlocking balls. This has been incorporated on the Gearbox detail for future castings. The modifications to this scheme are to be embodied in the Conversion B.V. Gearboxes now in the course of erection. This completes the instructions for the above. Kindly instruct as required. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/HH. | ||
