1135 Exptl. Dept. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std. 20/JH. 29th October, 1936. The British Tyre & Rubber Co.Ltd., Oxford Works, Derby Road, Burton-on-Trent. For the attention of Mr. Williems. Dear Sirs, We have tested out the twin belt scheme about which we wrote you, using your belts made to mould 447. While these belts did not break of fray, they stretched so considerably that all our available adjustment was used up. We should like to know whether they would go on stretching indefinitely or whether they would settle down in time, also whether you can make any alterations to the belts to prevent this stretching. Will you please send us four belts as 447, but 1.000" less in total length. If there is any difficulty in obtaining this length of belt, we should like you to send us four belts to No.447 in advance of the shorter ones. On receipt of advice as to which belts we can havem we will send you an Official Order for same. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
