RRC. to obtain Works scrap figure. Birmingham Aluminium Co. to be asked for their suggestions on revised moulding and alternative alloys to improve casting. Production of castings in larger batches to be suggested to give more consistent results. Makers are to have the option of making their own patterns. Any new alloy need not pass a 10,000 miles test, but will be required to do an equivalent bent test. The following items are to be considered for production at lst. in 'E' series :- Crankshaft with wide intermediate bearings. Packard Type Balancer weight in .4% carbon steel to E.CD.284. Dynamo and Water Pump driven at 1 1/2 x engine speed to E.CD.551 and F.CD.623. Dynamo should, if possible, be brought into line with B.30. Modified Oil Relief Valve, Oil Pump and AC. Filter. E.CD.590. New type of filter is being investigated by Experimental and Design. Modified Oil Filter in Sump. E.CD.628. Modified Offside Downtake Pipe and Intermediate Pipe Stays. E.CD.605. Wraith Type Steering Box. F.CD.545. Modified Controls to suit Wraith Type Steering. E.CD.644. | ||
