-4- RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale}1/MH.{M. Huckerby} 10.6.38. The wrapping factors of various brakes are as follows:- (1) R.R. conventional, or Girling R.R. 1 (2) R.R. 4 shoe. 1 (3) Girling, Lockheed. 1.3 (4) Lockheed slotted shoe, GM or Huck. 1.7 (5) Bendix, 2 leading shoe 2.0 (6) Bendix servo 3.0 We place these in order of merit, as follows;- (2) and (5) Bendix 2.L.S., R.R. 4 shoe. (4) and (1) 'Huck' type and R.R. conventional (3) Lockheed and Girling. (6) Bendix servo. The choice of brake for a particular car must be governed by circumstances, not necessarily by the above order. Interchangeability. By varying the brake unit interiors we see no reason why we should not stop all our cars satisfactorily with the 12" dia. drum. This includes the Phantom. The same servo will be used on all cars, with the cam angle or leverage adjusted to suit. RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AFM.{Anthony F. Martindale} | ||
