X.3411. X.3711 - MULTIPLE STORAGE BATTERY INSTRUCTIONS. WITH BATTERIES. 1. To put this battery in operation unscrew and remove vent plug in centre of each cell and fill each cell half inch above top of wood separators with electrolyte (i.e. brimstone sulphuric acid and distilled water) 1.210 specific gravity. 2. Charge battery according to ampere charging rate as stamped on battery name plate until specific gravity in each cell reaches at least 1.275 specific gravity and voltage reaches 2.5 volts per cell. Then invert battery until it is completely drained and immediately refill with fresh electrolyte of 1.300 specific gravity and again charge the battery for about one hour or until voltage of each cell reaches 2.5 to 2.6 volts per cell. 3. This battery may require three complete charges and discharges before attaining full rated capacity. IMPORTANT Do not use "alternating" current for charging. Use direct current only. For hot climate do not allow temperature of battery rise above 108 degrees Fahrenheit, if this occurs reduce ampere charging rate. | ||
