523,844 H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} L. Hall Means for supplying air to internal combustion engines

Air intake to carburetter consists of an into wind cold air intake the mouth of which has a gauze or flame trap, a down wind cold air intake, these intakes being controlled by a flap and a hot air intake the latter being from a muff arranged on the engine side of an exhaust ring manifold of the radial engine; the cowling prevents ice or snow entering the muff, which also serves to shield the exhaust manifold from the air inside the cowling by which the cylinders are cooled.

Wilkinson

The invention seeks to improve the operation of spark plug ignitions at high altitudes by reducing spark plug erosion, by curtailing the duration of the after current of each spark. It achieves this by incorporating in series with the secondary winding of the magneto or coil a non linear resistance having the general property that its resistance is inversely dependent on the voltage or current associated with it.
