Will you please fill in on this sheet what tests you consider a new chassis should go through before going onto production, i.e. on the road, on the dynamometer and other test apparatus, with special regard to the sections you are responsible for. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Cr.{Mr Cra???ster / Mr Chichester} 1. Test bed endurance as specified by Swoll etc. 2. Dynamometer on gear box & axle as specified by Guy etc. 3. Cold chamber viscosity & cold starting & electrical output tests. 4. Several hours of electrical equipment, including lighting, road & interior. 5. General check over of all control linkages & leverages & correct operation of same. 6. Brooklands & traffic tests of cooling system. 7. Traffic tests of clutch. 8. Gear box tests up & down mountain roads. 10. Propeller shaft alignment investigation & road test at various loads up to overload. 11. Rear axle tests (with pre-set gearbox) up & down mountain roads. 12. Full analysis of brake linkages, setup & leverages, operation of safety stops & destruction tests on road. 13. Analysis of shimmy preventing and friction & excessive tests with worn tyres & on exceptionally bad pot holes tests in shadiness under braking. Skid pan analysis. 14. Bump tests of all suspension parts as specified by DPM. Tests of ride under varying conditions. 15. Tests of wheels by deliberately hitting obstacles. 16. London traffic tests in hot weather. 17. 15000 miles tests. (a) Preliminary (b) Final (c) continuations or cure test in hot weather (85'c) of (a) & (b). 18. Autobahn survey. 19. Coachwork tests, including ventilation, heating, comfort and durability, i.e. rattles, shake, sticky windows etc. | ||
