that the wear has been nil, but it is considered that the material has swollen slightly due to absorption of oil or moisture (it is known that this material is very hygroscopic). To prove this in some degree the rubbing block was warmed in a flame upon which a combination of oil and moisture issued in bubbles from the surface of the material. Lever herewith & after 20,000 mls.
