gearing.

(8) The planet carrier is a solid job machined out for the planets.. The cover plate is positioned by "fitting" bolts for the rivet holes, whilst the planet pin centres are machined; after which the "fitting" bolts are withdrawn one by one and replaced by rivets.

(9) The spigot bearing is an oil impregnated bush.

(10) Erecting is done before the ordinary lay shaft of the gear box is fitted, as far as the inside circlip is concerned.

There is certainly a considerable amount of reduction in cost and weight and size of the job, and practically all the alterations suggested are taken from current Borg Warner practice.

I shall hope to have an opportunity of going into these points with you in the near future but thought you would be interested to examine them in the meantime.

Are you yet able to give me any suggestion in regard to a licence scheme fee for the larger cars? If you knew the new chassis price it might be possible to arrange for something on this basis - either retail price or trade price as would fit in with requirements. Alternatively, we shall be pleased to consider any other suggestion that would better meet your Company's view point; but I am anxious to get a move on in settling our general scheme as we now have another case of a pending licensee, who would prefer a fixed sum basis rather than on c.c.

With personal regards,

Yours sincerely,

p.p. Capt.E.J.de Normanville,
GC.
