X5540 To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From G.W.H. Hotel de France. Chateauroux. Indre. 12.5.33. 18. G.{Mr Griffiths - Chief Accountant / Mr Gnapp} IV. We have received your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/KT 10.5.33. We note your remarks re friction discs for the slipper wheel. We will fit same as soon as received. HYDRAULIC DAMPERS The bees-wax asbestos gland packings are not proving a success. We have examined the O.S. rear and in our opinion the wax sets too hard. If the leaks become excessive I shall make fresh glands using tallow on the asbestos. FAN. The peregrine fan and the slower drive is not a success when the engine is idling. There is practically no draught when the engine is turning over at approx. 500 revs. We have brought out with us the original smaller drive pulley and shall try this when we change the slipper wheel discs. TANK The non spilling device seems to be a success. We have not observed any marks of petrol having been splashed out. [Signature] G.W.H. | ||
