To E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. RG.{Mr Rowledge} DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} X. 627 X4646 R3/M3.4.24. SLIPPER FLYWHEEL. X. 627 Mr. Olley says - "that for the above - they find Bone grey fibre the best material". I think if we use a thin sheet of fibre and leave enough clearance in the springs for back lash it will be quite satisfactory. I am aware that a very small clearance is used on Goshawk because of trouble with crankshaft, but we should get away from the need of so close adjustment as soon as possible R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
