I am sorry to note contents of BY5/H12.5.27, and would venture to suggest this question of fitting K.L.G.Plugs to 40/50 HP. Chassis in place of Lodge Plugs receives further serious consideration - particularly in these days, when economy is so vital in the interests of the Company, and, apparently, the quality of the product will not be lowered in any way by the change.

1. K.L.G.Plugs, I understand, have given every satisfaction in the hands of the Public when fitted to 20 HP. Chassis.

2. K.L.G.Plugs have been used for some considerable time in preference to Lodge for Dynamometer testing by the Road Test Department, where, presumably, they receive greater punishment than they ever would in the hands of the Public.

3. The 50 - 40/50 HP. Chassis fitted with K.L.G.Plugs have passed through Road Test with no trouble.

4. If we wait until the Public report on the 50 - 40/50 HP. Chassis now fitted with K.L.G.Plugs many months will probably elapse, as, should the owner think his Plug is giving trouble, he will probably fit one of the Spares out of his Kit, and we shall hear nothing of it - in addition to which it will be probably two or three months before Chassis get through the Coachbuilders into the hands of the Public, i.e., it is reasonable to suppose 6 months may elapse before we get any complaint.

5. We have exceptional terms from the K.L.G.people for such Plugs, which, based on our 40/50 HP. purchases last year, show us a saving of roughly £450-£500 per annum.

6. The K.L.G.people have safeguarded our position by putting 1000 Plugs in Bond here.

7. I understand both the English and French Air Ministries have standardised Mica Plugs in preference to Porcelain for some time past; and in this connection an article in the March "Fokker Bulletin" (page 7) may be of interest. Will BY kindly pass this on to Hs. {Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} and Hx. as it is the only copy I have.

With these facts before him, perhaps BY will kindly take up the matter further with those concerned, and let me know.

Meantime we are buying further small supplies of Lodge Plugs pending a decision.

ROY. {Sir Henry Royce}
