RE DERMATINE WASHERS *3570

The Works are complaining that the Dermatine washers used on the chassis are inferior to the rubber insertion washers used in pre-War days. They are of the opinion that if the dermatine washers were increased in thickness a better joint would be obtained. The Order Office inform us that the Stores have a sheet of Dermatine of a thickness greater that washers used on the chassis.

Could you please arrange to fit a set of washers made in this thicker material to a chassis and report upon same. The difficulty the Works are having is due to the fact that the Dermatine crinkles making it impossible to obtain a water-tight joint.

Will Mr.Clarke please issue an experimental number.
