New Bentley's Impressive Track Debut

4 1/4 litre Last week we told of the remarkable achievement of the streamline standard Bentley on the roads of France and the autobahnen of Germany. The impressions we got of this car on the roads were fully borne out by the speeds and averages put up during this car's trials on the track at Montlhery, Paris.

Driven by Mr Walter Sleator, director of Rolls-Royce in Paris, who handled the car so beautifully at high speeds on the roads, this same car with a flying start covered 107.418 miles in the hour, a record for a four seater saloon.

The regularity with which the famous French track was lapped was shown by the fact that in the half-hour 53.469 miles were covered. The fastest single lap average during the run was just over 109 miles an hour, but later in a special fast lap Sleator averaged 110.043 miles an hour - some going for an ordinary standard four seater saloon available for purchase by the general public.

It is anticipated that Bentley's will shortly take the car to Montlhery again to show what it can average on the track for an hour upwards.
