| 323. To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager}3/AP.8.12.36. In reply to your memo Roy.{Sir Henry Royce}4/MG.1.12.36., we feel that this is another instance of our being no doubt unintentionally mis-led with regard to cost figures. The last paragraph in your memo states that electrically welded tubes are considerably cheaper than drawn tubes, whereas our information on the subject leads us to believe the cost to be 50% higher. You may of course have more information on the matter than we have, but the fact remains that recently we have wasted a lot of time chasing £.s.d. with negative results due to cost information supplied to us being inaccurate. The only advantage we think we should get out of this tubing is a slightly better balance and therefore cost appears to be the major item. Would you please therefore supply us with actual comparative cost quotations, and any other advantages that you know this type of tube has. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} | ||
