To Roy.{Sir Henry Royce} from Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/VH. VL{V. Lewis / Mr Valentine}496 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/VH1/LG23.3.28. CHAMPION SPARKING PLUGS. In reply to Roy{Sir Henry Royce}/GEA10/EB15.3.28. We are returning 20 AE4 and 30 AE9 unused Champion sparking plugs. These plugs are quite unsuitable for use in our aero engines. We are retaining the Champion AEL. sparking plugs for further tests. A set of AE9 plugs have already been tests in our experimental flight engine, RR.F.12 No.7, fitted to the DH.{D. Henderson - Showroom}9a at Stag Lane aerodrome. 10 AE4 plugs were tried in a 7/1 compression engine on the test bed, and were found to pre-ignite badly; one of these plugs has since been handed over to The Champion representative, Mr. Marocchi, for examination at London. We attach a copy of a report from our Expl: Dept: for the attention of Mr. Marocchi, Technical Dept. of the Champion sparking plug Co. Ltd. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/VH. | ||
