-3- The distributor is run up to a higher speed and then slowed down until the lowest speed at which the full governor advance indicated by the disc, is found. Then calling this reading the advance speed characteristic of the governor, is found working downwards. This should lie with the following limits :- Advance. Speed. Minimum. Maximum. 11º 1700 1800 9º 1320 1420 6º 950 1050 3º 650 750 0º 200 300 It is best to start the test with hand advance fully retarded, taking care that it remains in order not to interfere with the governor readings. If the speed limits are not complied with, it will generally be found that the only alteration required is that of the set of the springs in the undeflected position of the weights. This set may require slightly weakening if the speed for 0º advance lies above the maximum limit. | ||
