x6153. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wat.6/MA. 21st May, 1935. Messrs.E.K.Cole, Ltd., Ekco Works, SOUTHEND-ON-SEA. For the attention of Mr.R.I.Cowley. Dear Sirs, We have now had an opportunity of testing out the Ekco car radio set we have just installed on one of our experimental 40/50 chassis. In our opinion it is by far the best we have tried for selectivity and quietness. The motor convertor undoubtedly contributes to this as we have always found vibrators noisy. Our criticisms are :- (a) The speaker accentuates low frequencies inordinately and could be considerably improved, in our opinion, in this respect. (b) The weight is rather excessive and might prove a disadvantage on sports cars. (c) The control unit is rather complicated to the unitiated and might be redesigned with advantage. The aerial system and the screened wiring on the body appear to be very successful and we should be glad if you could send us a sketch shewing how this particular aerial was arranged as we ourselves cannot remember the scheme agreed upon at Park Wards. | ||
