January 29th. 1929.

We received your wire: 'Send twenty to Derby Brazier should return with it Wire when we can expect it'. We have not wired you to-day because Paris had the Customs papers belonging to this car and we had to get to know from them where they were and whether we could get them so that the car could return. They have informed us by wire that the papers will be sent on to Le Havre, therefore Brazier will be leaving Châteauroux Thursday morning, and providing the car can be embarked, will leave Le Havre Thursday night and should arrive at Derby Friday.

We have completed the S.S. car to-night late. There has been very little trouble in fitting the engine feet. It has necessarily been slow owing to having to wait for them to be drilled. The centre line of the engine has not been altered. We consider the job is as perfect as if it had been done at Derby. To-morrow Wednesday there will be a final test and we have arranged for the photographs to be taken, but it is a question whether this can be done if the weather remains as it is, i.e. pouring with rain. We have fitted the car completely with new tyres and shall take 2 new spares down with us. There will be still 6 spare tyres at Paris if these are not wanted; you had better inform Paris to return them to Derby. The 20-HP will return to Derby in the condition as it finished the mileage, as we have not had available help to start dismantling it, all hands have been on the S.S.

There is a general feeling here that they should return home for a short time, having completed the job that they came out to do. We have asked you twice about the men staying here and have received no reply. We received your wire late yesterday evening: 'Sending Mostay to replace Crofts Arrange for Brazier to return temporarily when you visit Le CanadelHenry Royce's French residence.'
