SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} FROM DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Copy to - HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 2nd. L.H. P. 2. FOR AMERICA. [Handwritten numbers in top right corner:] x7772 x7860 x7530 x4531 [Green stamp: ORIGINAL] This car came to WW. and the appearance of the bonnet, radiator, and dash, was approved by R.{Sir Henry Royce} and everyone else here. The top of the bonnet necessarily appeared flatter than that of standard, in fact, it was thought that the flatter appearance was an advantage which was to be aimed at, in that it created an impression of lightness which has always been an enviable feature of the Isotta and Hispano bonnets. The slight lowness of the [word scratched out] hinge at the scuttle was more or less an apparition due to the bonnet and scuttle not properly matching at this point. It was generally agreed that we would like to standardise what we have on this car, and not make any changes. If we were to alter any one dimension of the bonnet it would entail another finished car to really see the effect. This would mean that at least 4 more months would have to elapse. Already this revised bonnet is long overdue from the coachbuilding point of view, and we are very anxious to have the advantages of it both here and in America. The instrument board arrangement was generally approved, and it was agreed that it looked considerably better than our standard at the moment. We presume that it will be arranged for this to be standardised as soon as possible. In the meantime we still think R.{Sir Henry Royce} would wish us to build up one board like our N. scheme 3106. We have a design of a front apron which we shall be sending to Derby in a day or two, and which we think should be fitted to this 2nd. L.H. P. 2. with a view to testing it and for standardisation.
