CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION DETROIT, MICHIGAN OFFICE OF THE CHIEF ENGINEER File August 6, 1938 1052 h/ S. W. Grylls, Esq., Rolls-Royce, Limited, Derby, England. Dear Mr. Grylls: In response to your letter of July 22nd, I am enclosing photographs and chart giving dimensions of our Model 60 Special. We are rather pleased with this job. Outside of its appearance it is the best riding and handling car that we have produced and as one engineer to another we must admit that we do not really know what factors make it so. Results sometimes seem to be accidental but they give us something to work on which should contribute to our advancement in striving for the ultimate. The flexible flywheel has worked out very well on our V-8. It is a modified form in that we are not using it as a torsional dampener but purely to take care of bending in the crankshaft. Sincerely yours, E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Seaholm E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} W. Seaholm Chief Engineer EWS:H | ||
