CONTROLS. ~~X5240~~ X5250 With reference to the radiator with vertical shutters, we understand that you wish to get this on the next 10,000 miles car. The arrangement shewn on N. sch. 2327. is the only one so far which allows for the use of an existing engine: all the others call for alteration to the cylinder block and crankcase, and R.{Sir Henry Royce} has instructed that we are not to let this be a consideration. We have made N. schs. 2361/2. embodying further suggestions due to R's criticism, and send them directly to you in order that you may rig up some arrangement for the 10,000 miles car. It is suggested that you might screw bosses on to the cylinder block and crankcase, and if so we suggest that you should use the arrangement of tubes shewn on N. sch. 2362. as being the lighter and simpler. If you consider that it is impossible for you to alter the crank-case and cylinders you may agree that the scheme shewn on N. sch. 2327. will be suitable for a 10,000 miles car, as the main idea no doubt is to test the vertical shutters.
