4 SPEED GEARBOX.
SERVO LUBRICATION.

We send herewith drawing Lec. 2072. showing an improved lubrication scheme for the above, in which the oil flung up by the constant mesh gearing is collected on the webs on the forward cover, drained into a specially shaped spout, which in turn carries it on to the large second speed wheel in the rear compartment, from which it is thrown on the webs depending from the rear cover, and guided so as to fall on to the servo worm wheel.

With this scheme it has been necessary to make a hole in the middle partition of box to pass the oil directing spout through, and for the purpose of drilling this we have shown a hole in the front end of the box which is afterwards enclosed.

We would like HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} to make tests of this scheme with the box inclined at an angle which would be equivalent to the car running down a hill of 1 in 4., with very little oil in the box, and then observe what additional oil is given to the servo, and also up to what angle of down hill inclination the scheme will function properly.
