20 HP. BRAKE EQUALISER MECHANISM. X3806

The lubrication system at present fitted on the 20 HP. equaliser mechanism is designed to operate with the equaliser shafts partially filled with oil. If more than a certain quantity of oil is initially put in, oil will drip from the Differential down the levers on to the silencer. Hence the Differential Gears should be packed with grease on erection, and the equaliser shafts, in each case, should have 33 cc's of oil inserted in the Test Dept. This is equivalent to 3 complete turns of the handle on the new type oil gun. The oil level in the shafts is then suff-iciently maintained by the small flow from the drip plugs of the centralised lubrication, while leaks to the silencer are prevented.

The foregoing applies to the front brake equaliser, the foot brake equaliser and the hand brake equaliser.
