HIGHER AND INTERMEDIATE OUTPUT DYNAMOS.

We have previously reported particulars and output characteristics of both 40/50 and 20 H.P. higher output dynamos.

In the 40/50 H.P. case one dozen machines have been made, duly passed through our specification of test, and are being allotted, as required, to special customers requirements. Also one higher output 40/50 H.P. machine has now satisfactorily completed a 10,000 mile test on an experimental car, and has been duly examined and re-tested. In spite of the higher output, commutator condition and brush wear were found to be satisfactory, the amount of deposited brush dust being reasonably small. The output performance was found materially to agree with that given by the machine before the commencement of the 10,000 miles test.

Having pointed out that the output of these higher output machines would not be suitable for standard owing to the deterioration of batteries caused by such very high charging rate, at your suggestion we have developed another type of armature for both the 40/50 H.P. and the 20 H.P. chassis (armatures similar), namely armatures to give outputs intermediate between present standard and the higher output machines referred to above.
