The major objection is, of course, that the assistance to the brakes is not maintained after the engine is stopped. The rear brakes are fitted with single shoes and a hand lever operates on the same shoes by mechanical pick-up. This should have helped to save weight.

The 12 cylinder Packard is less good than we anticipated.
