to [REDACTED] from DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ORIGINAL X8400 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}/EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/2.10.26. copy to [REDACTED] HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} S E C R E T E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} A.{Mr Adams} C. X8400 REAR WHEEL AND LUGGAGE CARRIER. PHANTOM. We send herewith N.Schs. 2269-two sheets, NSch.2270 & 2277. shewing a combined rear wheel and luggage carrier fitted to the Phantom. N.Sch applies to the chassis which have the new type of rear frame extension, whilst N.Sch.2270 applies to chassis with the old type whether Silver Ghost or Phantom. Lastly, N.Sch 2277. shews how it is possible with very slight modification to the design to stand the wheel more vertical in the case of very short bodied cars such as 117 MC. belonging to Mr G.Summers. In the case of cars with the large filler it is necessar to drop the tank to clear the frame extensin fixing bolts, whilst in the case of the old type cars we suggest that either the vent casting on the tank will have to be moved inwards and a new vent pipe set out or preferably a large type filler fitted with its proper vent. In the case of maximum bodies it will be necessary in most cases to remove the lower bar of the luggage rail and the wheel plate in order to remove the tank filter..This we believe applies to bothe types of tank. We would be glad if Derby would look into this again when setting out the carrier. In order that we may get the opinion of "Sales" on the suitability of the design we would be glad if you would send us one extra print of N.Sch. 2269 | ||
