| - 2 - I have got remarkably quick in this tap moving business and will challenge anyone at Derby to beat me! I took Colonel Darby to see the car once and was going to drive him back to Conduit Street in it. The tank had just been filled full. Operating the starter, as he will tell you, produced no life from the engine, gallons and gallons of petrol poured from under the car and that was all. We tried and tried, but always the same result and had to give it up. (The next time I go to Derby, I want a free fill up). I think a mechanic from Mr. Pike went to examine the car and he took down all sorts of things but could find nothing wrong. I don't think there is anything stopped up. I believe it is something in the design and to do with the piping lay out. The other day coming out of London I had the trouble, cleared it and then going down a steep hill, which no doubt threw the petrol forward in the tank, brought it on again and the car was very bad for the next few miles, stopping several times and pouring petrol on to the road. The above is rather long and long winded, I am afraid, but it sets out all the facts and information. I can tell you no more, but can you deduce from it what is wrong? Is there something you know of, or is it a new one on you? Yours faithfully, (Signed) G.R.N. MINCHIN. P.S. I tried to demonstrate the fault to Phil Paddon today and we filled the tank to the brim. Of course, it wouldn't do it and ran perfectly. It wont do it to order, that is why it is not much use sending someone to examine it, unless you know of the cause from other cars. | ||
