Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd.,
DERBY.

For the attention of Mr. N. R.{Sir Henry Royce} Chandler.

Dear Sirs,

Re 10.A3 Clutch to Specn BB.242A.

We wish to confirm telephone conversation of this morning when the writer advised that we are experiencing great difficulty in obtaining clutch covers to within the specified balancing limits. As a matter of fact, we have a quantity of 8/900 at these Works which conform to our standard limits but do not comply with your own. We, therefore, request permission to weld strips on to the outer securing flange.

We appreciate your remarks with regard to distortion by welding and we will arrange, following the spot welding of the strip, to check for balance, and disc grind face to ensure that there is no possibility of distortion.

In accordance with your request we attach hereto Detail Drawing of Cover Drg.No.41252, showing the intended position of the balancing strips.

In view of the urgency of this matter, will you please kindly advise the writer per telephone of your agreement.

Yours faithfully,
BORG & BECK COMPANY LIMITED.

A.M.Shinkins.
