To Mx.{John H Maddocks - Chief Proving Officer} c. to Sft{Mr Swift}/Sct. X1110 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth.14/KW.15.5.36. Phantom III Clutches. We have arranged with Sft{Mr Swift}/Sct. to hand to you two Ph.III clutch driven plates which are standard except for having specially arranged U-slots in the steel centre plate. On one all the slots are at the inner radius and on the other at the outer radius, instead of being cut alternately in the two positions. Borg & Beck say that it is easier for them to keep the run out down with this type of construction, and we cannot see that it has any disadvantage otherwise. If you find the plates satisfactory we will alter the design of all the clutch plates accordingly. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth. | ||
