Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} 600 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry{Shadwell Grylls}1/R.8.9.37. WRAITH. With regard to your query about the faults still to be corrected on Wraith, the major problems are:- (1) Engine mounting both front and rear. (2) Engine periods on the engine having the correct cylinder block. (3) Water loss experienced in France. (4) Carburation. (5) Oil leak past No. 7 bearing. (6) Exhaust valve failure in France. (7) Shake of the pedals due to engine movement. (8) Gearbox noise. (1) & (2) Occupy 24.G.VI (red saloon) and the bump chassis. (3) is being investigated on 27.G.VI (chocolate coupé) (4) is receiving attention on a 25/30 car so that improvements can be transferred to a Wraith car. (5) & (6) have preference over all other work on the test beds. (8) Out of the four gearboxes so far made, two have been remarkably good and two not up to standard. We think this is a production problem because the bedding of the gears on the noisy boxes is not as it should be. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
