X6036. TESTS OF EXPERIMENTAL COILS TO SCHEDULE. Type of coil :- Non-Trembler 12 volt. Delco Remy. X.No. 6036. Date 10.10.30. Coil No. 629. Particulars of design and method of construction :- (a) Iron Circuit. Square section made up with 22 soft iron strips 4" long .330" wide .026" thick. Iron sheath, perforated in slats same dimensions as core strips. wound round outside of the coil. Length 12.875". Weight of core and sheath 7 ozs. (b) Primary winding. Wound with 5 layers of 25 S.W.G. S.C.C. wire Weight 3 1/4 ozs. (c) Secondary winding. Wound with 42 S.W.G. enamelled wire. Wound next to the core. (d) Primary insulation. None between layers. Several turns of varnished paper round outside of primary. (e) Secondary insulation. Unable to determine whether varnished or wax paper as coil was badly charred. Extra insulation on first layers. (f) General. Coil supported on porcelain base in a sheet metal case with a bakelite terminal plate at top for H.T. and L.T. terminals. The former being brought out centrally. Coil impregnated in bitumen. | ||
