Dear Sirs,
For the attention of Mr. H.E.West.
With reference to your letter of 31st ult., regarding the Vacuum Ignition Control Device, and to your letter of 20th February, enclosing curve for full load, half load and quarter load of your 20/25.HP Engine, we note you have a 16° Manual, 30° Automatic Advance and 16° Vacuum Control.
We take it that the Distributor used on this job has centrifugal automatic advance suitable for this full load curve; we note you would prefer us to send you a Vacuum Control Unit so that you can adapt it yourselves for your own requirements.
We would have naturally liked to have the opportunity of passing on to you a complete design that would work in conjunction with your own Distributor, or failing that we should have been pleased to have made up a Distributor with centrifugal automatic advance, so that you could have adapted the whole thing in a complete unit with Vacuum Control, to one of your engines.
However, if you do not think it possible to have this done, we will send you along a Diaphragm so that you can adapt it yourselves, but we would particularly point out that the movement of the Diaphragm is limited and this must be taken care of by the levers you use in controlling the Distributor.
Yours faithfully,
B.Rushton
Technical Manager.
