Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Copy to Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} Y4085 Spl/H/10.1.23. RECEIVED JAN 12 1923 20 HP. Chassis - Spare Wheel Carrier for side position. ------------------------------ I have received a copy of Hsl/LG/8.1.23. and note that the spare wheel carrier fitted with stirrup on running board is unsatisfactory, and that you recommend that the original wheel carrier with pan in the running board should be used instead. I should like to remind you that the Coachbuilders find it necessary to raise the wheel to be above the running board, particularly on upright steering cars, because the position of the front door prevented the wheel being moved back to clear the front wing. If the wheel is let into a pan in the running board, it must also be let into the front wing, quite a long way up the wing. This is a very poor arrangement. Cannot some better arrangement than the stirrup be used which will allow the wheel to be above the running board as in the latest scheme? One suggestion I would like to make is to do away with the stirrup and carry the wheel on the bracket only. Sp.{Mr Spinney} Hl | ||
