We want to see whether we can make the Bentley an inherently good car for clutch jaggers by having a much stiffer rear axle, as they do on American cars. The most convenient way of doing this is to make the axle solid, as on Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}135. With this arrangement we stiffen up the axle about 3 1/2 times, and the only new pieces required are the half shafts and the crown wheel hub. We can dispense with the oil seals. Will you please detail and make the necessary pieces. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Smth. | ||
