1256 EXPERIMENTAL DEPARTMENT. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/CTS.{C. Trot Salt - Carburation}1/JH. 21st. December, 1939. The Light Production Co.Ltd., 60/66 Rochester Row, Westminster, LONDON.S.W.1. For the attention of Mr. Riley. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter ref. WPR/DP. dated 18th. December, and we have considered your drawing F.479. Our conclusions are as follows :- (1) That we might carry out the first test with a normal "L" section ring EB.4738 in place of the scraper. This means that the groove would not be as wide as shown on your drawing F.479. (2) We would also like to delete the 12° chamfer over the heat break saw-cut for the trial test. You will see that we merely wish to take the opportunity of testing a simplified piston, and we can add the chamfer and wider ring as required. Can you put in hand 14 such pistons right away? and let us have a delivery date fairly soon. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
