BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} C. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} /5400 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M22. 5. 28. REAR END OF INDIA 3 & 4. X.5600 X.5400 X.5460 Herewith we send N.schs.2575/6/7/8, shewing the frame rear end, 2nd. cross member and petrol tank, rear wheel carrier and luggage grid, and number plate. We have made every effort to permit of the max. body space with the minimum turn under, in order to cater for modern fashions. We do not wish the removal of the filter to call for excessive turn under. PETROL TANK. We have modified the K.S. gauge because R.{Sir Henry Royce} says he understands that the vent is not now necessary. This modified fitting should be used on 'SS{S. Smith}'. It will be noticed that the vent fitting in the filler is shorter than that on 'SS{S. Smith}', and should be used on both cars. No weir is needed in the vent dome on the tank. WHEEL CARRIER & LUGGAGE GRID. These are the same in every respect as on 'SS{S. Smith}' except for length and set in the cross tubes. TAIL LAMP. We want to use tail lamp S.220 as this can be used both here and on the continent. EXHAUST. We shew the swan neck and fishtail. We should be glad if Derby would set out the sheet metal support to the 2nd. cross member. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
