RHC{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} C.B. c. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wst. WST 46017 BY/RD2/W.1.7.35. "SpectreCodename for Phantom III" Ignition Coil, Section 8140. R.R.Scheme 87C. The experimental ignition coils which have been made on "SpectreCodename for Phantom III" have had their primaries wound with double silk covered wire in order to use the standard coil case for test purposes. On production, however, we definitely prefer to use single cotton covered and enamelled wire which takes up a little more room. We have, therefore, produced an ignition coil to the above scheme and blue prints of the new details are attached hereto, as follows :- D.75252. Stud, Coil. 2 off. D.75253. Tube for Core. 2 off. D.75254. Insert. 6 off. D.75255. Coil Case. 2 off. D.75256. Insulating Tube. 2 off. D.75257. Insulating Tube. 2 off. D.75262. Insulating Flange. 2 off. D.75263. Piece Number Tab. 2 off. D.75260. L.O.P. It will also be necessary to order supplies of the copper wire :- 21 SWG. .032" dia. Single Cotton covered & enamelled. 1 lb. and wax paper for insulating purposes :- 6.2812" wide x .00175" thick. 50 ft., and 24 SWG. .022" dia. "Stalloy" Iron Core Wire, 4.200" long. 11 oz. The remaining parts on the L.O.P. should be obtainable from production, with the exception of :- D.50453. Terminal Screw. 4 off. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 8065. Washer. 4 off. Prints of these will no doubt, be available. Please put in hand as required. BY/RD. This completes the instructions for the above scheme. | ||
